Washington Island lies off the tip of Wisconsin’s Door County peninsula. It is accessible only by private boat or car ferry, crossing the notorious “Death’s Door” passage. The island is only 7 miles wide yet is home to roughly 700 residents year-round. It is a very popular summer getaway destination, with peak visitation up to 10,000 in a day! This map captures some of my favorite places and things to see and do on the island.
