Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

A road trip to Munising, Michigan in 2024 sparked the idea for this map. I created it to help me keep track of the various sites I visited, and also serves to remind me of what an amazing trip it was. There are more waterfalls, sea caves, beaches, shipwrecks and lighthouses than I could see in a single excursion, so I’ll definitely be back. The waters here are strewn with the remains of various shipwrecks, earning it the ominous nickname, “Shipwreck Shore.”  The Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, operated by the National Park Service, is the primary tourist attraction here, however the Alger Underwater Preserve is a close second. Glass bottom boat tours allow visitors to view some of the 15 ship remains lying in shallow waters.
